What’s Missing
The real estate MCP ecosystem has narrowed some gaps but significant ones remain:
- Portal MCP access is ChatGPT-only (or scraper-based) — Zillow, Redfin, and Realtor.com’s official ChatGPT MCP apps are exclusive to OpenAI’s platform. Third-party Apify aggregators work across clients but use scraping. No open, officially-sanctioned MCP servers exist that any client can connect to. Trulia and Homes.com have no MCP presence at all.
- Commercial real estate: partial progress — LoopnetMCP (johnstenner, 8 stars) now provides access to LoopNet listings via scraping, and PriceHubble covers CRE-adjacent valuation data. But CoStar and CREXi — the industry’s primary data sources — still have no MCP servers. LoopNet’s scraping approach carries ToS risk for production use.
