In late May, two ChatForest articles described Claude Mythos as a model builders would not be able to use — restricted to Project Glasswing’s ~50 credentialed organizations, gated by geopolitics, and explicitly not on a path to general API release. That framing is now partially obsolete.
Anthropic confirmed in the last week of May that Mythos-1 is being integrated into two specific products: Claude Code and Claude Security. The direct API is still not available, and Glasswing is still restricted. But there is now a product path that any Enterprise customer can enter today, and a Claude Code path that all subscription tiers will reach in the coming weeks.
Here is what the actual access path looks like.
What Changed
The May articles focused on the Glasswing access wall: you either had a government-facilitated bilateral agreement or you didn’t get in. That remains true for Glasswing specifically.
What Anthropic announced separately is a product-access path. Mythos-1 — the numbered production version, distinct from the April “Mythos Preview” research model — is being integrated into Claude Code and Claude Security as the model backend. This is not a research deployment or a Glasswing expansion. It is a commercial product rollout with a specific (though still approximate) timeline.
The distinction matters for builders: you cannot call a mythos-1 model ID in the API. You can use Mythos-class capabilities through the Claude Code interface and through the Claude Security dashboard if you have an Enterprise subscription. The surface area is constrained. The capability is real.
Path 1: Claude Security
Claude Security entered public beta on May 4, 2026. It was previously in closed preview for approximately two months across hundreds of organizations. As of the public beta announcement, all Enterprise Claude customers have access.
What it does today (Claude Opus 4.7):

What changes when Mythos-1 arrives:
The public announcement positions Mythos-1 as the next model backend for Claude Security, not a separate product. Builders who set up Claude Security now, on Opus 4.7, are on the same infrastructure path — when Mythos-1 rolls in, existing workflows continue.
The capability difference will likely be meaningful. During Project Glasswing’s six-week sprint, Mythos (the research preview) found more than 10,000 high- or critical-severity zero-days. The production version should have similar characteristics. For builders running Claude Security on a medium-to-large codebase, the difference between Opus 4.7 and Mythos-1 is not a marginal quality improvement — it is a different class of results.
Timeline: No specific date confirmed. Observers tracking Anthropic’s Enterprise SKU changes and model selector UI strings place the window at late June to early July 2026.
Access: All Claude Enterprise customers. Team and Max subscriber access is announced as forthcoming, with no date given.
Path 2: Claude Code
Mythos-1 is also being integrated into Claude Code as a model option. The specifics of how this will surface — whether as an auto-selected backend for specific task types, as an explicit model switcher in the Claude Code UI, or as a tier-gated option — have not been officially confirmed.
What Anthropic has said publicly is that Claude Code is one of the two primary products through which Mythos-class capabilities will reach customers, alongside Claude Security. Given that Claude Code is available to Max, Team, and Enterprise subscribers, the access pool is significantly broader than the Enterprise-only Claude Security path.
What Mythos-1 in Claude Code likely means:
Based on the Glasswing results, the capability improvements that are most evident in Mythos are in code understanding at scale and security-relevant reasoning. For Claude Code specifically, this suggests:
- More accurate detection of architectural issues that span multiple files, not just local code quality
- Better handling of large codebases where context dependencies are deep
- Stronger performance on security-relevant tasks: identifying injection vectors, unsafe deserialization, authentication gaps
- Improved autonomous task completion on complex multi-step refactors
The caveat is that Mythos-1 in Claude Code is not confirmed to behave identically to the Glasswing research model. Production deployments of safety-critical models typically include mitigations that alter behavior on the most sensitive capability edges. What builders will see is Mythos-class general improvement, with some capability areas specifically managed.
What Is Still Not Available
The Mythos-1 API model ID will not be in the public API at launch. This is explicit in Anthropic’s framing: access is through Claude Code and Claude Security, not direct API calls.
This means builders who want to integrate Mythos-class reasoning directly into their own pipelines — calling the model for arbitrary tasks, building products on top of it — cannot do that. The model is available only through Anthropic’s own product surfaces, which enforce the access controls and usage oversight that Anthropic’s policy requires for models at this capability level.
Anthropic has not committed to a timeline for direct API access, and their published policy implies it would require capability mitigations they have not yet developed.
Builder Decision
If you have a Claude Enterprise subscription and care about code security:
Set up Claude Security now, on Opus 4.7. The tool is in public beta, the workflow integrations are mature enough for team deployment, and the Mythos-1 upgrade will arrive without requiring re-setup. Running scans now also gives you a baseline — you will be able to see, when Mythos-1 ships, whether and how finding quality changes.
If you use Claude Code today:
No action needed. The Mythos-1 model integration will arrive as a product update. The practical question is whether your current Claude Code tier (Max, Team, or Enterprise) will all get access simultaneously or in sequence. Anthropic has not specified the rollout order.
If you wanted direct Mythos-1 API access:
That path is not open. The product path (Claude Security + Claude Code) is the current offer. If your use case requires programmatic Mythos-class access in your own infrastructure, you are waiting for either an API release that Anthropic has not committed to or an Enterprise agreement that gives you something closer to Glasswing-style access — which currently requires a different kind of engagement than a standard commercial contract.
The Bigger Picture
The May framing — “the era of releasing every model publicly may be ending” — is still accurate for the research model and the raw API. What June adds is the product layer: Anthropic’s answer to the access question turns out not to be “restricted to 50 organizations forever” but “available through specific products with managed surfaces.”
This is roughly how other high-capability tools have historically shipped: not open-ended access, but access through controlled application surfaces. Claude Security wrapping Mythos-1 is analogous to how pharmaceutical companies release drugs through licensed practitioners rather than over the counter — capability access, but in a context that limits the most dangerous use patterns.
Whether this productized-access model satisfies what builders actually need depends on the use case. For security-focused builders, Claude Security and Claude Code cover significant ground. For builders who want Mythos-class reasoning in arbitrary application contexts, the product wrappers are not a substitute for API access. That gap remains.
