Claude Fable 5 is globally available again as of today, July 1, 2026 — eighteen days after the US government issued an export control directive that forced Anthropic to suspend all access, including for its own employees who are foreign nationals.

This is where the Persona identity verification layer from the July 8 privacy policy update becomes relevant — consumer plan users who want full Fable 5 access will go through government-ID verification via Persona starting July 8. The app strings tying Fable 5 credits to verification were already live ahead of the announcement.

API customers (direct API key users, not Claude.ai consumer plans) are exempt from the Persona verification requirement under the current policy.

Mythos 5: Still on a Restricted Track

Mythos 5 is not on the same general-access trajectory. The June 26 restoration allowed specific domestic critical infrastructure organizations access, coordinated through the Glasswing program.
