On May 29, 2026, Google made Gemini Spark available to US Google AI Ultra subscribers. At launch, three third-party tools are connected to it: Canva, OpenTable, and Instacart. Google says over 30 more are coming this summer via the Model Context Protocol. There is no public form to submit your product for inclusion.
If you build a SaaS product, a developer tool, or any API-backed service, Gemini Spark is worth understanding now — not when the submission process opens.
What Gemini Spark Actually Is
Gemini Spark is not a model upgrade. It is not a new feature in the Gemini app. It is a persistent AI agent that runs continuously on dedicated Google Cloud virtual machines and takes autonomous action on your behalf throughout the day.
The agent is powered by Gemini 3.5 Flash and the Antigravity 2.0 agentic harness — the same infrastructure Google uses internally for its own production agent systems. It is deeply integrated with Google Workspace: Gmail, Docs, Slides, and Sheets. You can teach it recurring tasks: “flag credit card statements with hidden fees every month,” “send me a digest of important emails by 9am,” “draft a summary of this ongoing thread every Friday.”
The key architectural detail: Spark runs in the cloud, not on your device. It does not require a browser window open. It does not stop when you close your laptop. It is a permanently-running cloud agent with access to your accounts.
What Is Connected at Launch
Spark launched with the following integrations:

The Summer 2026 Connector Expansion
Google confirmed a wave of additional MCP connectors arriving in summer 2026. The confirmed names include Adobe, Samsung, Spotify, and CapCut. GitHub, Notion, and Slack appear consistently across Google’s I/O materials and partner announcements as summer additions — they fit the productivity-tool focus of the first expansion wave.
Google described this expansion as covering “any service with an MCP server,” but that framing is aspirational, not operational. The practical path today is a partnership track with Google’s integrations team, not a developer portal submission.
How Connectors Actually Work: The MCP Architecture
Spark uses the Model Context Protocol — an open standard Anthropic introduced in November 2024 — for all third-party integrations. MCP defines a standardized, secure way for AI agents to communicate with external services. An MCP server exposes your product’s data and actions to an agent runtime in a structured, permission-aware format.
For authentication, MCP specifies OAuth 2.1. The Spark integration handles the OAuth handshake with the end user; your MCP server receives a scoped access token and processes tool calls.
Structurally, a Spark connector is:
- An MCP server your product hosts
- A set of declared tools with typed inputs and outputs
- OAuth 2.1 authorization at the connection boundary
- A description layer that tells Spark what your tools do and when to use them
The description layer matters. Spark decides autonomously when to invoke your tool based on how you describe it and what context the user has shared. Poorly-named tools or vague descriptions mean Spark uses them rarely or incorrectly, even after a user enables the connector.
Why There Is No Public Submission Process Yet
As of May 31, 2026, Google has not published a Spark MCP connector submission portal, review criteria, or partner policy page. This is intentional, not an oversight. The launch-day connectors (Canva, OpenTable, Instacart) and the summer wave (Adobe, Samsung, Spotify, GitHub, Notion, Slack) are partnership agreements, not developer submissions.
Google’s current model for Spark connectors mirrors what Apple did with App Store categories and what Slack did with the Slack App Directory in early years: curated expansion first, open developer access second. The open developer-submission phase likely arrives after Google has established connector quality standards and a review process internally.
The practical implication: if you want your product connected to Spark, the path today is direct outreach to Google’s partnerships team, not a wait for a developer portal. The summer expansion cohort was assembled pre-I/O. If you are building toward the cohort after that, being in conversations now is how you get considered.
Antigravity 2.0: Building on the Same Agent Harness
Google also released Antigravity 2.0 at I/O 2026 on May 19 — the developer-facing version of the same agentic infrastructure that powers Spark.
Antigravity 2.0 has five components:
Desktop app: Connects natively with Google AI Studio, Firebase, and Android. Lets developers export projects from AI Studio directly to a local Antigravity instance while carrying full context.
Antigravity CLI (agy): A new CLI built in Go, replacing the retiring Gemini CLI on June 18. Faster, more responsive. The same tool Gemini CLI users are migrating to.
Antigravity SDK: Programmatic access to the same agent harness that powers Spark and Google’s own production agent systems. Optimized for Gemini models. Lets developers define custom agent behaviors and host them on their own infrastructure.
Managed Agents tier: Hosted agent execution inside the Gemini API. Lets you run Antigravity-built agents without managing your own cloud VM infrastructure.
Enterprise path: A route into Google Cloud’s agent platform for organizations requiring enterprise contracts, compliance configurations, and dedicated support.
The SDK is the relevant component for builders who want to build agent products — not just connect to Spark, but build something that works the way Spark does. The SDK gives you the harness; Gemini 3.5 or any Gemini model is the intelligence layer.
For builders currently using the Gemini CLI: the June 18 retirement is firm. Migrating to agy is the immediate action. Antigravity 2.0 as a platform is the longer-term investment.
What Builders Should Do Right Now
If you want your SaaS connected to Gemini Spark:

Build or harden your MCP server now. The connector you submit — whenever Google opens submissions — needs to be functional, correctly described, and well-scoped. Starting now gives you a production-quality server before the portal opens.

Get your OAuth 2.1 authorization flow right. MCP connectors require OAuth 2.1 at the connection boundary. This is not optional and is the piece most builders underestimate. Test it against other MCP-compatible runtimes (Claude Desktop, other Anthropic-compatible agents) while you wait for Spark submissions to open.

Gemini Spark is Google’s answer to a question the AI industry has been working through for two years: what does a personal AI agent actually do in daily life? The answer Google shipped is a cloud-running, always-on, task-executing agent connected to your existing digital services via MCP.
For builders, the strategic implication is the same as what emerged from I/O across every agent runtime: one MCP server gives you compatibility with multiple agent ecosystems simultaneously. An MCP server built for Spark is also functional with Claude Desktop, with any Anthropic-compatible harness, and with any other runtime that has adopted the protocol. The work compounds.
The connectors shipping this summer are not the finish line. They are the proof-of-concept cohort Google uses to refine its connector standards, quality review process, and developer policies. The larger distribution opportunity opens after that. Builders who show up with working MCP servers before the portal opens are better positioned than those who start when submissions go live.
