The technical specs are table stakes. What matters for builders is the distribution math: WhatsApp alone has more than 3 billion monthly active users. More than 1 million businesses were already using earlier bot versions — piloted in India, Mexico, and Brazil — before this global launch. That installed base and that channel reach don’t exist anywhere else in the consumer messaging stack.
What Meta Business Agent Actually Does
The basic agent handles what you’d expect: answering business-specific questions, product recommendations from a catalog, appointment booking, lead qualification, and closing sales, with a human team member able to step in at any point. It responds in the customer’s own language without human intervention on routine queries.
The enterprise tier — Meta Business Agent Platform — goes further. It’s an infrastructure layer for large businesses that want to build, customize, and deploy agents at scale.
