Intuit’s Five Financial Apps Are Now Live in Claude via MCP
On April 23, 2026, Intuit flipped the switch on five of its flagship financial products inside Claude. TurboTax, Credit Karma, QuickBooks, Mailchimp, and the Intuit Enterprise Suite are now available as MCP tools — meaning Claude users can pull live tax estimates, check their credit score, analyze business cash flow, and build marketing campaigns without leaving the conversation.
It’s one of the larger fintech MCP deployments to date, and it arrives with significant context: the same week Intuit cut 3,000 employees while deepening AI commitments to both Anthropic and OpenAI.
What You Can Do Right Now
The five tools each serve distinct user types:
TurboTax lets consumers ask Claude personalized tax questions, get real-time refund estimates, and connect with Intuit’s tax expert network — all within a Claude conversation. If you’re mid-tax-season and want to model a scenario (“what if I contribute more to my IRA?"), TurboTax’s integration can surface a projection rather than redirecting you to a separate app.
Credit Karma surfaces your credit score and explains the specific factors affecting it. It also supports “what-if” modeling — asking it to simulate how paying off a credit card or opening a new account would shift your score in different scenarios.
QuickBooks is where the business-side value concentrates. Small and mid-market business owners can ask Claude to generate profit/loss statements, analyze cash flow trends, and benchmark their performance against similar businesses by industry and region — all pulling from live QuickBooks data.
Intuit Enterprise Suite extends the QuickBooks capabilities further for larger organizations, supporting deeper financial data analysis and reporting directly inside Claude for Enterprise.
Mailchimp handles the marketing workflow use case: drafting email templates, building multichannel campaigns (email, SMS, social), and receiving send-time recommendations based on audience engagement data.
The Partnership Behind the Integration
The MCP deployment is the consumer-facing half of a broader multi-year deal Intuit announced with Anthropic in February 2026. The B2B side is equally significant: Intuit opened its platform to Claude Agent SDK, allowing mid-market businesses to build custom AI agents on top of Intuit’s compliance infrastructure without requiring engineering teams.
Anthropic gave some illustrative examples — a restaurant group using an agent to analyze margin variances across multiple locations, or a construction firm running automated billing compliance checks wired into project workflows. These use cases aren’t hypothetical product demos; Intuit is positioning its platform as the compliance and financial data layer, with Claude as the reasoning engine on top.
Internally, Intuit is also deploying Claude Code across its engineering organization — a signal that the company is betting on AI productivity gains to offset headcount reductions (more on that below).
The OpenAI Deal Is Older — and Larger
For context: Intuit signed a separate $100M+ multi-year deal with OpenAI in November 2025 to embed its products inside ChatGPT and use OpenAI models to power its AI agents for tasks like cash-flow forecasting, tax preparation, and payroll management.
The Anthropic deal is structurally similar but different in emphasis. The OpenAI partnership is model-first (Intuit pays OpenAI to use frontier models in its own products). The Anthropic deal is platform-first (Intuit’s financial intelligence surfaces inside Claude via MCP, and Claude Agent SDK runs inside Intuit’s platform). Both run in parallel; both are active.
The net result is that Intuit’s financial data is now reachable through both major AI consumer interfaces — ChatGPT and Claude — which is a defensible distribution strategy regardless of which platform wins the consumer side of the AI race.
The Uncomfortable Backdrop: 3,000 Layoffs
On May 20, 2026 — a month after the MCP tools went live — Intuit announced it was cutting approximately 3,000 employees, about 17% of its global workforce. CEO Sasan Goodarzi was careful to say the cuts had “nothing to do with AI,” attributing them to simplifying the company’s corporate structure.
The optics are difficult. Intuit spent much of 2025 and early 2026 announcing AI deals with Anthropic and OpenAI, deploying Claude Code across its engineering team, and opening its platform for AI agent development. Then it cut 3,000 people.
The “nothing to do with AI” framing strains credulity for observers tracking the broader pattern — Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Cisco, and Oracle have all made similar claims while simultaneously citing AI as a reason to restructure. Whether the causal arrow runs directly from AI capabilities to headcount, or through structural simplification that AI makes viable, the outcome is the same: fewer human employees, more AI capacity.
This doesn’t make the MCP integration less useful for end users. But it’s context worth holding when evaluating what “AI partnerships” mean at scale.
What Works, What Doesn’t
The integration is available now, but with the expected caveats of a v1 rollout:
Works well: Real-time data retrieval for personal finance and business metrics. Asking Claude to surface a QuickBooks cash flow summary or a Credit Karma score breakdown is the kind of query where MCP genuinely removes friction. The data is live; the response is immediate.
Works less well: Deep multi-step financial workflows. The tools are connectors, not agents. Asking Claude to “prepare my taxes” won’t result in a completed return — it will surface information and projections, and hand you to TurboTax for the actual filing. The line between AI-as-assistant and AI-as-executor is still managed carefully here, likely by design given regulatory exposure in tax and financial services.
Status: Intuit’s disclaimer notes that product features are “subject to change without notice” and eligibility criteria may apply. Some enterprise features are still rolling out through spring 2026.
Why This Matters for the MCP Ecosystem
Most current MCP server deployments are developer tools, productivity utilities, or search/retrieval systems. Intuit’s integration is notable because it puts live personal financial data into the MCP surface — data with real compliance exposure, real regulatory history, and real user trust requirements.
If this rollout holds up at scale (no significant data handling incidents, positive user response), it becomes a meaningful precedent for other financial services companies evaluating MCP. The question of whether regulated industries can responsibly deploy MCP integrations with sensitive user data has been mostly theoretical. Intuit is now the live test case.

Deducting for v1 limitations (connectors, not agents), the compliance-driven conservatism on tax execution, and the unresolved question of what “spring 2026” rollout means for enterprise features still in staging. Worth tracking closely — the precedent it sets for regulated-industry MCP deployment is more important than the current feature set.
